The security keynote at Google Cloud Community Days Kolkata 2023 was easily the largest stage I have spoken from in the city – about 2,700 attendees at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.
I used the slot to push back on something I had been hearing too often that year: that “cloud-native” automatically means “secure”. Most of the breaches I was seeing then did not start in the cloud control plane. They started in identity, in configuration, and in the gap between developer speed and security review.
